> The Coalmining area

It is the territory of the "gueules noires" (black mouths), these coal miners that are so important to the economic and social history of the 20th century.

It is a united corporation with a strong identity. The new museum in Carreau Wendel, "La Mine", is worth a visit just for itself. The way coal was extracted and the life of the whole community can be discovered by play in a realistic way.

In the same category, Völklinger Hütte, a steel mill that is registered at the Unesco World Heritage is worth a short visit to our neighbours in Germany. The site is fantastic.
