With a bastion near Sierck-les-Bains, another one in the “Val de Metz” and a third, smaller, near Vic-sur-Seille, the Moselle was for a land of vineyards for a long time.
Phylloxeria appeared at the end of the 19th century, and then the Armistice in 1918 rang the bell for the German market and started the decline of the vineyards.
However, since the second half of the 20th century, Moselle and its wines have been revived by the energetic impulse of talented wind growers. There are only 30 types of wine in Moselle today, they provide a grape harvested in a zone VDQS (Vins Délimités de Qualité Supérieure), which guarantees a superior quality.
