Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the Meisenthal baubles
Up to 29 December 2011

Meisenthal Christmas baubles: an unusual encounter between memory and the dream of modernity. Since 1857, they have conjured up the magic of Christmas celebrations and the International Glass Centre [CIAV] is reviving this adventure with the reissue of traditional designs and the creation of new works of contemporary glass craftsmanship. And all of this is brought to life through demonstrations with a commentary from the glass blowers!

The BL119 studio (Grégory Blain and Hervé Dixneuf) reinterprets the archetypal shape of the weights used in grocers' scales, playing with weightlessness and designing the contemporary KILO Christmas ball, which the CIAV is making this year.

So let yourself go and put on a few kilos this winter!

Traditions and legends
If Saint Nicholas
were to tell me his story …
This legend holds a very important place in the cultural life of the region. Well-behaved children receive gifts and goodies, while naughty ones have to deal with Father Spanker.
