The arrival of autumn signals the return of the mating season, a spellbinding spectacle when the stag, king of Moselle's forests, is in love. The sounds of his powerful, eerie bellowing and fierce fights echo through forest and plains. The mating season, a process of natural selection as well as a stunning spectacle, is an absolute must-see this autumn. The herd's males fight to intimidate each other and win their mates in a flamboyant, colourful setting. Naturalist guides specialising in animal behaviour will disclose the secrets of the herd of 60 stags and does living at the site. They will show you an outstanding pyramid of antlers weighing over 60 kilos which illustrate 17 years of the animal's growth, from its first spikes to full regal antlers.
