GR5

Nearly 200km of the GR5, which links the North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, wend their way through Moselle. When the trail arrives in France, in Volmerange-les-Mines, it clings to the hillsides of Moselle until Gorze, where hikers discover the industrial Fensch and Orne Valleys and the countryside around Metz, covered with vineyards and orchards, with beautiful views opening out on to Metz and its environs.

The GR5 makes a little foray into the countryside around Nancy before coming back into Moselle at Bioncourt and entering Lorraine Regional Natural Park, where hikers can see the area's most beautiful historic and natural sites, including Vic-sur-Seille, Marsal, Lindre Pond, Tarquimpol and Stock Pond.

Then the trail reaches the Mosellane Vosges and Saint-Quirin, one of France's most beautiful villages. Abreschviller is the last stop before Donon, where the GR5 leaves Moselle.
